PowerSchool is our new student database management system which replaces our current database system and  Edline.

Parents, students and teachers will be able to use PowerSchool to access grades, view assignments and contact teachers. We will be distributing usernames and passwords at Locker Day in August, Open House in September and with mailings home.

We thank you for your patience as we convert our systems.

Why switch from Edline to PowerSchool?

Several parents have asked why we switched from Edline to School Loop and PowerSchool.

About twelve years ago, we switched our student database system from MacSchool to SASI to maintain student records, course history and print report cards. With the advent of computerized gradebooks, teachers began using a program called Easy Grade Pro to keep track of assignments and attendance. Teachers would then print grades and re-enter them into SASI for 5 week progress reports and 10 week quarter report cards.

During this time, several teachers began to post assignments and grades to a web page called Teacher Web. Students and parents would log in with one user name and password for History, another user name and password for Math and another for Science. Three years ago, the school adopted Edline as a school website which allowed parents, teachers and students to log in one place to see all classes and grades. Teachers could upload grades from Easy Grade Pro at their leisure and assignments could remain on the calendar for the entire year. Teachers were still required to print and enter grades into SASI for 5 week progress reports and 10 week quarter report cards.

Over the 2008 summer, Pearson, the company who developed SASI announced they would be fading SASI out and the school would have to find an alternative solution to maintain student data. After viewing demonstrations of several alternatives, a committee of computer teachers, guidance counselors, teachers and secretarial staff selected PowerSchool as the most comprehensive option. PowerSchool was not compatible with Edline and would not allow teachers to upload data requiring the school to find an alternative web site provider.

PowerSchool will allow parents and students many of the same features Edline offered.

We thank you for your patience as we make this transition.
